| MediBIC is comprised of three business segments: |
The Biomarker Drug Discovery
We provide broad range of solution services for new drug development, including PGx project planning, sample collection arrangement, sample logistic, sample banking, DNA/RNA extraction and analysis, and data analysis for biomarker discovery for drug development. We also offer development support products through partnership with leading suppliers with innovative technologies overseas. |
MediBIC's sample banking facility is located in Translational Research Informatics Center (TRI), a state of the art storage center founded by Japanese government and Kobe City. This special privilege is granted as part of a collaborative research program between MediBIC and Foundation for Biomedical Research and Innovation. |
Personalized Healthcare Management Support
"Genetic Testing for Drug Response" is a DNA screening test designed for individuals to find out if his/her genetics will affect excessive response to some drugs. We market this test mainly through clinics and dispensing pharmacies. We also offer a test especially designed for newborn babies to obstetricians. |
Cancer Drug Development
MediBIC has been co-developing Glufosfamide, a novel small molecule with promising activity in several cancer types, with US-based Threshold Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Phase 3 international randomized trial will be commenced in mid 2011 under a Special Protocol Assessment (SPA) agreed with FDA by Eleison Pharmaceuticals, Inc., to which Threshold licensed Glufosfamide in 2009.
NIH awarded research grants in November 2010 in support of late stage drug development of Glufosfamide for pancreatic cancer. The European Medicines Agency (EMA) also recommended the approval of Glufosfamide for Orphan Drug Designation in Europe. |
